Kinky Boots gewinnt sechs Tony Awards
Bei den diesjährigen Tony Awards ging in der vergangenen Nacht das Musical "Kinky Boots" von und mit der Musik von Cyndi Lauper als großer Sieger der Verleihung hervor. Das Musical wurde mit sechs Tony Awards (u.a. als "bestes Musical") ausgezeichnet. Die Musicals "Matilda" und "Pippin'" erhielten je 4 Tony Awards. Rodgers + Hammerstein's "Cinderella" konnte sich dagegen nur in der Kategorie "Bestes Kostümdesign" durchsetzen. Als beste Hauptdarsteller wurden Patina Miller ("Pippin") und Billy Porter ("Kinky Boots"), als beste Nebendarsteller Andrea Martin ("Pippin") und Gabriel Ebert ("Matilda") prämiert.
